The RiseSingh Foundation is a family foundation based in Irvine, California. We provide grants to nonprofit organizations whose work we know firsthand, develop and operate programs where we see an unmet need, and support causes that receive less attention than they deserve. We are deliberately small, which allows us to know every organization we fund and to account for every dollar we give.
Our mission is intentionally broad. The ways we pursue it are specific.
We provide direct financial support to nonprofit organizations that are already doing effective work. We choose them because we know them and can see their results.
Where no organization is addressing a need, we design and operate a program ourselves, demonstrate that it works, and then place it with the people best able to carry it forward.
We direct attention and resources toward communities and causes that receive too little of either.
Financial Foundations is a ten-session financial literacy curriculum for middle school students, delivered by trained and licensed high school students at schools and community organizations across Southern California. The program is free to every student, family, and host site.
The Foundation develops the curriculum, trains and licenses the teachers, and measures what students learn. The teachers bring the program to their own communities.

How we think about itThe RiseSingh Foundation was incorporated in California in 2022 as a nonprofit public benefit corporation and is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) public charity. Its stated purpose, to help people and communities rise to their highest potential, was written broadly so that the Foundation's work can evolve as needs change.
We know every organization we fund and every program we run. If that ever stops being true, we have grown too quickly.
Good ideas often stall for administrative reasons, such as paperwork, legal structure, and credibility, rather than on their merits. A foundation is well placed to supply those things.
The programs we operate are designed to outgrow us. From the start, we plan for the day someone else carries them forward.
Nothing we fund or operate should make a person feel diminished for needing it.
If we cannot demonstrate what changed, we do not claim that something worked.
The Foundation is governed by a board of two directors, both of whom serve without compensation.

A ten-session financial literacy curriculum for middle school students, delivered at no cost by trained and licensed high school students at schools, community centers, and youth clubs. The Foundation owns the curriculum, trains and licenses the teachers, and measures what students learn. More than 200 middle school students have taken part to date.
Financial support for nonprofit organizations serving the Sikh American community, which became a target of hate crimes after September 11, 2001, and continues to contend with that history. Our contributions support organizations providing legal aid, cultural preservation, and community building from within the community itself.
A partnership with a local climbing gym to support young people who experience sensory overload and anxiety. Indoor bouldering requires concentration, problem-solving, and the repeated practice of falling and trying again. We help cover access and programming costs for young people who would not otherwise have this opportunity.
If you lead an organization whose work aligns with our mission and would like to explore a partnership, we would be glad to hear from you.
